The Forsaken Age

In the world of Rune Midgard, the gods once walked among mortals, bestowing blessings, guidance, and power. Their influence shaped the land, and the eternal struggle between light and darkness raged across the realms. But then, as suddenly as it began, the gods withdrew, leaving mortals to govern themselves. Kingdoms fell, civilizations crumbled, and a once-thriving world descended into chaos. This era of ruin became known as the Forsaken Age.

Legends of the gods faded into whispers, and the knowledge of their power was lost to time. Dark forces crept into the ruins of fallen cities, twisting what remained into something unrecognizable. The power of the gods did not simply vanish—it was scattered, hidden within ancient relics, long-forgotten tombs, and the last remaining bastions of the old world.

But even in the shadows of despair, hope endured. The Seekers arose—a new generation of adventurers who refused to accept the world’s decay. They journeyed across the broken lands, uncovering lost artifacts, deciphering forgotten texts, and facing the horrors left in the wake of the gods’ departure. Their quest was not just one of survival but of purpose.

Dark Prontera – The City That Refused to Heal

As the world recovered from the Forsaken Age, cities once abandoned began to rise from the ruins. Geffen’s arcane towers blazed anew with magical light, the forges of Einbroch roared back to life, and Payon’s warriors reclaimed their sacred lands. One by one, the great cities of Midgard were restored—except for one.

Prontera, once the grand capital of Rune Midgard, remained shrouded in darkness. No matter how many times it was rebuilt, no matter how many champions sought to reclaim its former glory, the city resisted restoration. A lingering shadow clung to its streets, a force unseen yet undeniably present, twisting every attempt at revival into failure.

Now known as Dark Prontera, the city stands as the last unsolved mystery of the gods' departure. Its towering cathedrals, once symbols of divine grace, now loom like silent sentinels. Its streets, though filled with Seekers, merchants, and warriors, remain dim, as though the light itself refuses to touch them. The air is thick with a power neither fully divine nor entirely corrupt—a force waiting to be discovered, or perhaps, awakened.

Scholars believe that something ancient lies beneath Dark Prontera, a force that holds the key to both restoration and destruction. Some claim it is the remnants of divine energy, sealed away by the gods themselves. Others fear it is something far more dangerous—a curse upon the city, bound to those who dare to uncover its truth.

And so, the Seekers must choose their path:

  • Unite to restore Prontera to its former glory, cleansing the city of the darkness that grips it and bringing light back to Rune Midgard.

  • Delve deeper into the mysteries of the forsaken city, seeking the power hidden within, even if it means embracing the shadows themselves.

Thus, Dark Prontera remains a city in limbo, a place where fate is yet to be decided. It is the final gathering ground for all Seekers, the center of alliances and betrayals, the place where destiny is shaped. Will the Seekers rebuild what was lost, or will they unearth a power too great to control?

The War of Emperium - A Battle for Control

As factions of Seekers rise with opposing beliefs, conflict is inevitable. Those who seek to restore the light of Midgard clash with those who embrace the dark power that lingers within the ruins. The struggle for dominance has led to the War of Emperium, where fortresses of the old world—known as the Fortresses of Legacy—become battlegrounds for control.

Each week, new strongholds fall under siege as warriors clash to claim their influence. To conquer a Fortress of Legacy is to seize control over the fate of Midgard, for within these ancient walls lie the last remnants of the gods’ power. The victors will shape the world to their will—either in the image of the past or in pursuit of something entirely new.

Yet, as the Seekers wage war against each other, a greater danger stirs beneath the surface of Dark Prontera. The very powers they seek to harness may be the same forces that will bring about their downfall.

The Forsaken Legacy now stands at a crossroads. Will the Seekers come together to restore Midgard to its former glory, or will they be consumed by the darkness lurking within the last city standing? The choice is theirs. The future is unwritten.

Legacy Seekers/Seekers

Seekers – In this world, Seekers are adventurers, wanderers, and explorers driven by the need to uncover the lost history of the forsaken world. They search not only for treasures but also for answers, wisdom, and the means to restore or understand what has been forgotten or abandoned. They represent a determined, relentless group of individuals who refuse to accept the past as final and instead strive to uncover hidden truths, restore balance, and forge a new legacy.

In the lore of Forsaken Legacy, Seekers could be the ones who venture into dangerous realms, seeking forgotten artifacts, lost knowledge, or ancient powers to shape the future. They symbolize hope, resilience, and the pursuit of something greater than what the world has come to accept.
